Whether you’re in La Grange, Texas, or halfway across the country, Christmas trees are a classic holiday tradition. Nevertheless, they can be difficult to transport, especially if you get a real one. For the holidays this year, a Lincoln SUV or crossover such as the Lincoln Aviator, Lincoln Corsair, or Lincoln Nautilus can make transporting a tree easier than ever.
First, it’s important to have the right car and the right supplies. An SUV is especially useful, because you can use a roof rack to tie down the tree without creating a mess in the cabin. Ideally, get a tree that’s been bagged or netted. Use plenty of bungies and rope to keep the tree secure.
Next, to make your holidays bright, you’ll want to keep the tree’s trunk facing forward. It might be counterintuitive to some, but the trees branches will be tied in such a way that it’s more aerodynamic to put the trunk toward the hood. Not only will this reduce wind damage to the tree, but it will also prevent the tree from creating drag and getting knocked off the roof.
Finally, drive slowly and avoid the highway, if possible. While it might be tempting to put a tree inside the Corsair or Nautilus, the roof is the best spot. If you choose to put the tree in the vehicle, you’ll need to put a tarp down first to prevent needles and sap from ruining the upholstery. Last but not least, check everything twice: the tree net, the roof rack, and the ropes.
From our family at La Grange Lincoln to you and yours across Texas: Have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season.
